  • How to choose the right industrial touch screen monitor
    Aug 17, 2025
Industrial touch screen monitors are essential for manufacturing, automation, medical equipment, and harsh environments where durability and reliability matter. Unlike consumer-grade displays, industrial monitors must withstand extreme temperatures, dust, moisture, and constant use. Choosing the right one can be challenging, so this guide covers the “key factors" to consider before making your purchase. 1. Determine the Touch Screen Technology Different touch technologies suit different industrial applications:     - Resistive Touch:   - Works with gloves, stylus, or bare fingers.     - Durable but lower clarity (not ideal for high-resolution needs).     - Best for factories, medical devices, and outdoor kiosks.     - Capacitive Touch:   - High sensitivity, multi-touch support (great for interactive displays).     - Requires bare fingers (not glove-friendly unless specially coated).     - Used in food processing, cleanrooms, and control panels.     - Infrared (IR) Touch:    - No physical layer, highly durable, and scratch-resistant.     - Works with any input (gloves, stylus, etc.).     - Ideal for heavy machinery, military, and outdoor applications.     - Surface Acoustic Wave (SAW):   - Excellent image clarity and scratch resistance.     - Sensitive to dust and moisture (better for indoor use).     2. Consider Environmental Durability Industrial monitors must endure harsh conditions. Look for:     - IP Rating (Ingress Protection):     - **IP65: Dust-tight and water-resistant (suitable for wash-down areas).     - **IP67: Can withstand temporary submersion.     - Operating Temperature Range: - Standard monitors: **0°C to 50°C**   - Industrial-grade: **-30°C to 70°C** (for freezing warehouses or desert use).   - Vibration & Shock Resistance - Needed for vehicles, mining, and heavy machinery.     3. Choose the Right Display Size & Resolution - Small (10"–15") – For compact control panels or handheld devices.   - Medium (17"–24") – Common for factory HMI (Human-Machine Interface).   - Large (32"–86") – Used in control rooms, medical imaging, and digital signage.     Resolution matters: - Full HD (1920×1080) – Standard for most industrial uses.   - 4K (3840×2160) – Needed for detailed graphics (medical imaging, CAD).     4. Check Compatibility & Connectivity Ensure the lcd screen touch monitor supports:   - Industrial PCs (Windows, Linux, Android, etc.)  - Legacy ports (VGA, DVI) or modern (HDMI, DisplayPort, USB-C) - Protocols (Modbus, CAN bus, RS-232 for machinery integration)   5. Evaluate Longevity & Support - MTBF (Mean Time Between Failures):Look for 50,000+ hours.   - Manufacturer Warranty: Industrial monitors should have 3–5 years.   - Replaceable Parts: Some industries need modular designs for easy repair.   Conclusion Selecting the right industrial touch screen monitor depends on touch technology, durability, size, resolution, and compatibility. Assess your environment, required lifespan, and interaction needs before purchasing.

  • What are the differences between TN LCD and IPS LCD?
    Apr 27, 2025
At the beginning of LCD technology, due to the high price, LCD panel manufacturers launched a simplified and affordable version - TN LCD, which was accompanied by natural defects of low color display quality and small effective viewing angle. Later, IPS technology was introduced into LCD, which improved the above defects, displayed accurate colors and had a wide visual viewing angle. It can be said that IPS is an upgraded version of TN technology.   Below, we will introduce the difference between TN LCD and IPS LCD from different angles.   1. TN LCD VS IPS LCD: Narrower viewing angle   The liquid crystal molecules of the TN panel are located in the vertical direction, and light is emitted around the vertical area. Therefore, we can only get good visual quality within a very limited angle, and obvious color distortion will occur at an inclined angle.   In contrast, in the IPS panel, the horizontal arrangement of liquid crystal molecules is conducive to the emission of light at any angle, thereby achieving a wide effective viewing angle. Both vertical and horizontal angles can reach 170 degrees to nearly 180 degrees, so we also call IPS LCD a "full viewing angle" display. TN screen will be whitish when viewed from the side. This is why when several people sat in a row to watch the computer in the past, the people next to them could not see clearly.   2. TN LCD screen VS IPS LCD screen: lower grayscale   Grayscale is an indicator used to measure the ability of color transition.   TN LCD (6bit) can display 2.62 million colors, while IPS LCD (8bit) can display 16.77 million colors. In the transition from black to white, IPS can display more colors, so the transition performance is more natural and smooth. It can be seen that the color transition of IPS screen is more delicate.   3. TN LCD screen VS IPS LCD screen: faster response time   Due to the high contrast and wide color gamut of HD, IPS panel requires longer response time than TN panel, and the general response time is about 30ms. When displaying dynamic HD pictures, IPS is prone to ghosting and jitter. TN screen benefits from the lower number of output gray levels, fast deflection speed of liquid crystal molecules, and faster response speed. The response time of conventional TN module is 10-25ms. Some TN screens can achieve a response time of 1ms without ghosting. They are often used as professional e-sports screens. Through fast response, TN screens can losslessly present the details of fast-changing scenes.   Different response times have different dynamic image display capabilities   4. TN LCD screen VS IPS LCD screen: Poor color reproduction ability   Grayscale and color mainly determine the color reproduction ability. Compared with TN panels, IPS panels have more grayscale, more delicate imaging, and delicate and realistic color image reproduction. As shown in the figure below, the four corners of the image displayed on the TN panel are pure black without details. IPS can display multiple color levels.   5. TN LCD screen VS IPS LCD screen: Low screen hardness   TN screens are soft screens. When you press the TN panel with your finger, water ripples will appear on the surface, but after the pressure is released, the surface will quickly recover. IPS screens are hard screens. The surface of IPS LCD screens is protected by a layer of high-hardness transparent resin film, so it can remain intact when touched, and there will be no water ripples on the screen surface. In addition, if we observe the screen with a magnifying glass, we will find that the pixels are distributed to the left like fish scales. Due to the horizontal arrangement of liquid crystal molecules, under the same external pressure, the restoration speed of IPS is about 10 times faster than that of TN with vertically arranged molecules.   As a custom led display manufacturer, most of the LCD panels we use are IPS screens, but if customers need TN screens, we will also purchase them. In particular, the 7 inch to 13.3 inch HDMI monitors we currently produce are basically IPS screens, which are also very popular! So if you are looking for the raspberry pi monitors or touch pc monitor, just feel free to contact with OSCAN!
